The Black Guerilla Family

The Black Guerilla Family is another product of the California state prison system. Founder George Jackson was a former Black Panther member. In 1966, Jackson and other black inmates, some formerly of the Black Liberation Army, came together and formed the Black Vanguard. As time past, the name changed to the Black Guerilla Family. The BGF is more of a political group that also focuses on protection from their rivals which include the Mexican Mafia, Aryan Brotherhood, and Texas Syndicate. Their symbols and tattoos are shown below. Sometimes the number 276 is added to represent the second, seventh, and sixth letters of the alphabet; BGF.*
