The Mexican Mafia

The Mexican Mafia was one of the first prison gangs established in the U.S.A. In 1957, former street-gang members came together in prison to form the Mexican Mafia, also known as La Eme. The Mexican Mafia contains generals who give commands to captains, lieutenants, and soldiers. These members are responsible for many violent acts and drug trafficking. The Black Guerilla Family and La Nuestra Familia are only a couple rivals of the Mexican Mafia. The Aryan Brotherhood has a small alliance with them and has been known to carry out a hits for La Eme. Tattoos include the word "Eme" on their right hand and an eagle holding a snake in its mouth with the letter "M" or "Eme Mexicana".*
